Below are some tips that you can consider before applying or having a transaction with an agency or person in order for you to get hired abroad. These might be basic things but are sometimes overlooked when applying for a work abroad.

You should not apply at recruitment agencies not accredited by POEA.
You should not do business with licensed agencies without employment orders.
You should not deal with any individual who is not an authorized representative of a licensed agency.
Do not transact business outside the registered address of the company. If recruitment is conducted in the province, check if the agency carries a provincial recruitment permission.
Do not pay out more than the allowed placement amount. It needs to be equivalent to 1 month salary, exclusive of documentation and processing expenses.
Do not spend any kind of placement charge if you do not have a legitimate employment contract as well as an official receipt.
Do not be tempted by ads or brochures requiring you to respond to a Post Office (P.O.) Box, and to include payment for processing of documents.
You should not do business with training centers and travel agencies which promise overseas employment.
You should not accept a tourist visa.
Do not do business with fixers.
